BookRhythm are pleased to announce and welcome Brianna Hughes to the page today. We are celebrating her new release today The Hunter’s Realm. In honour of this we thought you would like to get to know a little more about the author, her work and of course all importantly the book. So without further ado let’s get on with digging a little deeper into what makes Brianna tick.
Q. So tell us a little about Hunter’s realm Brianna.
A. About the Book:
Kelly Jackson has spent four years running and hiding. Her prince turned out to be an abusive bastard who tried to take her son. Moving into a nice quiet neighborhood the last thing she wants is to be drawn to her McHottie neighbor. No matter that her children think he belongs to the family.
Elliot Hensworth, one of the Realm’s mightiest warriors, was sent to the other side to guard the weakening wall between the Realms. The last thing he needs is a petite sexy neighbor with her inquisitive children to find out that he isn’t what he seems.
The Hunter’s Realm is a story of strength, love and courage, face your worst fears and survive, to put your faith and trust in another person and the joy that comes when you do.
Q. Do you have a favorite character? Why is he/she/it your favorite?
A. Well, to be honest all the characters are favorites, for each has something special intertwined in them, but if I had to choose one it would be Kellie. This is a woman who not only is a mother of two wonderful children, but also a woman who has overcome a horrible situation in her past of abuse from her lover, one she didn’t ask for, but chose to leave it behind and take her children away from it. She shows courage, love and a ray of emotions throughout this book. I use to work in the ER and saw many cases of Domestic violence come in and out of the doors, some victims came back repeatedly, and some never made it. I wanted to show something that is a fact in the real world and intertwine it with a story that hopefully some who may or may not be in that situation can relate or know someone who can.
Q. What do you hope readers will get from your book?
A. I am hoping that they will get many messages, one of strength to overcome obstacles set in their paths. Secondly, see that this story is not only one of strength, but also love, courage and having you face your worst fears and surviving it. Having to put faith and trust in someone else and then knowing the joy that comes when you do so.
Q. What/Who inspires you?
A. Well many do, but first and foremost is the Lord, for without his gift of the talent to write I wouldn’t be where I am today. But, also my family and friends have inspired me a lot as well, with encouragement, love and lots of support.
Q. Hardest aspect of writing? Best/Easiest?
A. I have not always liked writing. I was a bookworm early on and slowly transformed from reading it to writing it instead. I was not the best in literature or in English in school but have learned to enjoy the art of writing in many different forms. The best aspects in writing to me are when the manuscript or poem, short story etc. are completed and published so all can enjoy. I do know that not everything I write will be everyone’s ‘cup of tea’ but that doesn’t deter me from still writing in different platforms. I find sometimes it is easy to create well rounded characters for each of my stories, poems etc. I have a format I have used from the beginning and stick with it.
Hardest aspects, well one would be the submission and editing processes. I always get butterflies with both processes, not all authors maybe that way, but I have always been this way and don’t see it changing no matter how many books I write, edit, submit.
Q. Who is your writing hero?
A. My writing hero would have to be Edgar Allen Poe. He was considered part of the American Romantic Movement. Well known for his tales of mystery and the macabre. Which I love the dark side of characters. His struggles throughout his career still to this day amaze me. How he was strong and overcame everything that was put in his path.
Q. About the Future:
A. What’s next for you?
Well, first up is “Heart of an Alpha” which will be released in a Summer Anthology, coming soon this summer. I also have submitted, “A Cloak of Deception”, a Thriller Romance novel. I also just finished another Paranormal Romance, “Love’s Foresight”, which is currently with beta readers. I have some other short stories planned for my Pure Wicked Seduction Holiday Series. So, you can say I am staying busy. Oh, yes I am also still working on the revisions on “Blood Ties” which is tentatively scheduled for re-release in winter 2014.
Q. One outrageous goal for the future?
A. To have five books published next year.
Q. Do you have any advice you’d like to share with other aspiring writers?
A. Life is filled with Dreams, Dreams which give our life meaning and inspire us to change. Writing can be that dream, so think of dream of finishing that paragraph, or that chapter or most of all pick up a piece of paper and just write. The words will flow from the ends of the pen all you have to do is believe in yourself.
Between yourself and every goal that you wish to achieve, there is a series of obstacles and the bigger the goal, the bigger the obstacles. Remember your decision to be, having and do something out of the ordinary entails facing difficulties and challenges that are out of the ordinary as well. Writing is no different nor becoming an author sometimes is your greatest asset simply your ability to stay with it longer than anyone else.
Never give up!
So onto some random questions:
Sweet or salty? Sweet
Beach, plains or mountains? Mountains
Online, letters or in person? In person, if it is all possible.
Ebook or print? Hmm, that is hard since I prefer book formats.
